JOHANN KEPLER

I was born in Brazil, and started working with amateur theatre companies at 16. By the age of 20, I was designing and making sets, costumes, props, and puppets.

Self taught, I worked as an illustrator for newspapers, designed posters for local productions and was a portait artist, showcasing my work both in solo and collective exhibitions.

In 1983/4, I did TV work for a local TV Cultura in a short series of programmes for children, and then went on to work in my own company, Theatre & Dance, where I created, directed, choreographed, designed and performed!

In 1987, I moved to London where I completed 3 years in Music Foundation, before going to perform cabaret songs in a show that went to Germany and Iceland. I also appeared in a musical and designed an opera group. I attended a 1 year set of classes on Historical Costumes Making for Theatre, Film and TV with Clare Porter.

A forever student, I continue to research costumes and textiles, music, lino prints, as well as drawing and painting.”
